Volunteer to Support the Free Brake Light Repair Clinic

Join our DSA Defund NoVa Police comrades in a mutual aid response to brake-light policing!

Broken lights are used as an excuse for cops to pull black, brown, & poor people into the criminal legal system. A simple traffic stop can end in police violence, and trap poor folks in the criminal legal system. But – it doesn’t have to be this way. Seattle, WA, Berkeley, CA, and Cambridge, MA are among cities considering moving traffic enforcement from the police department to the department of transportation.

The bottom line is that: it’s time to rethink traffic safety. To truly make our streets safer for pedestrians, drivers, and passengers, DC should invest more in public transit, pedestrian-only zones, speed bumps, protected bike lanes, and more — reducing traffic accidents and reliance on cars altogether.
